Beginning in 2019 the Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs will enter a team in the Tri-State Collegiate League. The team will consist of college eligible players from the Western Pa./Ohio/WVA area, with the ultimate goal of individual player development. Our primary focus will be returning each player to their college team healthy, with an improved skill set and ready to compete for a starting job in the fall.

The team will be under the direction of professional baseball instructors  Frank Merigliano, Ryan Flanagan and the rest of Diamond Dawgs staff who’s 20 plus years of player development is unrivaled in the Western PA area. Each player will be put on an individualized development program consisting of strength training, speed and agility work, proper nutrition and hitting and throwing protocols. Diamond Dawgs Strength/Speed coach Chip Hunter will work closely with each college coach to design a program that will allow players to focus on the area of their game that needs the most improvement along with enhancing their overall abilities . Players will have access to the indoor Dawg Pound in Robinson Township as well as the Meyer Middleton Complex in Crafton for outdoor workouts.

All players will get ample live game reps. Lineups will be made with an emphasis on development and improvement. Pitchers innings will be scripted according to the plan laid out by each players college pitching coach.

DEVELOPMENT will be emphasized in all aspects of the Diamond Dawgs Tri State Collegiate League team.  This unique program will truly be about the players. College coaches will have ample input into each of their players summer development and can rest easy knowing their players will be well taken care of and not over or under utilized.
