2021 SEASON PREVIEW

ARE YOU READY TO EXPERIENCE
THE DIAMOND DAWG DIFFERENCE?

Picture
The 2021 Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs will field teams in the 8u-18u age groups. Teams will be selected from returning players from the 2020 season and new players added through the tryout process beginning in July. The Dawgs will field multiple teams in each age group.

*UPDATED COVID PRACTICE PLAN*
Due to the uncertainty of Covid and what potentially could happen in the winter we will begin our 2021 season in September. We will practice outdoors at Meyer Middleton beginning on Tuesday September 1 and continue every week until late October/Early November. This will allow us to get a jump on the 2021 season in case the start of Winter indoor practice has to be delayed.

In the past our Fall program was a separate entity with an additional cost. For 2021 we are
waiving that cost and adding the fall program to the overall 2021 Diamond Dawgs program. This commitment to our players means even more instruction and practice for all our Dawgs at no extra cost!

Special Note- If there is HS or Youth football this fall we will have a Sunday practice option for all football players who will not be able to attend week night practices

PRACTICE
(Player Development)

*Fall Practice: Fall practice will start Tuesday Sept 1 (Ages 9-14) and continue each week until the beginning of November outdoors at the 5 field Meyer Middleton (CIT Baseball) Complex in Crafton. Fall practice will focus on the introduction of “The Dawgs Way” fundamentals. We will conclude our Fall workouts with our very own Dawgs Black and Gold scrimmage weekend in October. Players will be put on teams for a weekend of Dawg v Dawg games!!!!!

(*Highs school age players-15-17*)
Fall season will begin in early September and will be a combination of Practice, scrimmages and games. All games will be videoed and archived on social media for our list of college coaches to see. The Fall season will conclude with a Dawgs workout that will be open for college coaches to attend.
There will be NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE for the HS Fall Program!!

*Winter Practice: Winter practice will take place at the Dawg Pound. Winter practice will continue every Sunday (excluding holidays) until the weather breaks in early spring and we are able to practice outdoors again. Winter practice will continue to stress fundamental repetition of hitting, pitching, fielding, throwing and base running.

*Spring Team Practice: Team practice will take place during the tournament season on Tuesday evenings out doors at the Meyer Middleton Baseball Complex.

Summer Practice: Our post season summer practice program will be available to any player who chooses to attend after the tournament season is over for players 8-14. This 5 week “Back to Basics” program will focus on the re introduction of fundamentals that have deteriorated during the tournament season

We will also be adding some new and exciting player development programs along with our DAWG STRONG program to continue to give our players every possible advantage to succeed.

**All players for the 2020/2021 season should have a bucket of balls, a batting tee, 2lb hand weights, 5lb hand weights and a net set up somewhere INSIDE their house or garage for some of the programs we will be implementing in the winter**

TEAMS

Developmental Teams:
Dawgs teams in the 8u-14u age groups will play in 5 tournaments beginning in April and concluding in June. Developmental teams will participate in a combination of tournaments in Western Pa and events within a 2 hour radius of Pittsburgh. Travel is not extensive and players are encouraged to participate in their local rec leagues as well as playing for the Dawgs.
