The ultimate goal of Diamond Dawgs Baseball has always been to develop our players to the point that they have the skills and ability necessary to earn a roster spot on a college team of some level. With only 8% of high school senior baseball players earning college roster spots the competition is fierce. Players must do all that they can to put themselves in a position to be recruited and ultimately earn one of these coveted roster spots. As an organization the Diamond Dawgs have had a very high success rate of helping advance our players to the next level. This is a process that starts at an early age as we introduce basic fundamentals and continues into the high school age years. Our Showcase teams have an outstanding reputation and are among the most highly scouted teams in the East and Midwest. With the recruiting timeline getting earlier and earlier in a players high school career (colleges are getting commitments from Sophmores and Freshman) it makes it exceedingly difficult to take long periods of time away from this process. Summer showcase teams are a NECESSITY in the recruiting process. FALL teams are also beginning to play an important role in identifying younger players that could become prospects. The goal of the Dawgs 2019 Fall College Showcase program is to get our players exposure to college coaches and to allow our players to start seeing what all types of schools may interest them.
Our success over the years at college placement of our players has led to a very good and trusting relationship with many college coaches and programs. The core of those relationships is honesty. We are 100% honest as to where our players fit. We are honest with college coaches and do not "over sell" players that wouldn't be able to compete in their programs. We are also always honest with our players and parents about which schools would be places where they could actually play.
Fall Program Details
The Fall Program will feature pro-style workouts and games on actual college campuses. To make sure our players are ready to excel in these workouts we will have strength, speed and power workouts 2 nights per week.
College tour: The Diamond Dawgs Fall Showcase team will go to various college campuses and showcase our players. The pre-game workouts will consist of BP, Infield/Outfield and 60 times. We will then play live games against another Fall Showcase team (Flood City Elite) or we will intrasqud. All of this will take place in front of the schools coaching staffs. We will target schools in several NCAA divisions (D1, D2, D3, JUCCO) to give our players a range of schools that may match their talent level. These will be one day events on Saturdays or Sundays with no overnight stay s or long tournament formats.
Strength and Speed: (DAWG STRONG) Elite athletes in any sport are strong and explosive. Baseball is no exception. The S&S portion of our program will be under the direction of Dawgs Speed coach Chip Hunter.
